Following the outbreak of the Second World War he was registered in Morawa as an alien on 30 October 1939 ^{[30: item 3090800]}
In 1939 he was described as a widower, 5 foot 3 inches tall with brown eyes, black hair and a small build ^{[30: item 3090800]}
He was captured in Gwalia as a Prisoner of War for being an enemy alien on 11 June 1940 ^{[30: items 8623782, 9912428]}
Interned for a week on Rottnest Island, from 15 June 1940 until his release on 23 June 1940 ^{[30: items 8623782]}
In 1948 he was working as a Labourer and Case Maker and living at 22 John Street in West Perth ^{[30: items 3090800, 32092264]}
Became a naturalised British citizen in Perth on 25 January 1949 ^{[30: items 3090800, 32092264]}
Later resided in North Perth ^[2]
Died 1 February 1956; buried at Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth. Western Australia (Roman Catholic, OC, 281) ^[2]
