From The Irwin Index newspaper, Saturday 16 October 1949:
Three Springs Enterprise
"Included in recent enterprising ventures undertaken by Mr A.H. Dargin, of Three Springs, is the establishment of a modern cordial and soft drink factory at the rear of premises at present used as an electrical and radio shop and power-house to supply the electrical requirements of the town. The installation of this new plant is now almost complete, and the proprietor is hopeful of having the factory in production in the very near future. Further, in addition to supplying local requirements, he is confident that the quality of the products to be manufactured will find ready favour with outside customers."

Fatal Traffic Accident
"Telephone message received at about 8:55pm from Arnold Hirst of Coorow advising that there had been a smash between two cars at about 6:30pm 5 miles South of Coorow on the Main Geraldton Highway. Two persons were seriously injured, one being Arthur Dargin of Three Springs. Hirst further advised that the ambulance had attended & returned to Three Springs with those injured. Constable Bowers advised Carnamah Road Board Secretary A.C. Bierman immediately and he stated he would visit scene tonight and requested that I accompany him. Const. Bowers reports his departure from Station at 9:15pm in company with A.C. Bierman for scene of accident. At Coorow telephoned Const. O'Mara at Three Springs who advised that Arthur Dargin had died on the way to Hospital and that he would report to Inspector Clark and Coroner immediately. A.C. Bierman & Const R. Bowers arrived at scene of accident at about 9:55pm and found vehicles clear of roadway. Ford Customline Sedan Reg. No. TS-32 which was apparently driven by Dargin was extensively damaged and was on the left hand side of the road with nose facing W. The road at this point runs approximately N. & S.. Dargin had been travelling South as R. Bowers had spoken to the man in Carnamah at about 5:05pm and he had asked me if I knew of any person who wanted a lift to Perth. Rover Car Reg. No. 44-262 was on the right hand side of the road with nose pointing approx. E.N.E.. This vehicle was also extensively damaged. The cars were searched & all valuable property that was moveable was removed & returned with Police to Carnamah Police Station. The collision had occurred on a bend that is in a hollow. Const. Bowers returned to Station at 11:50pm and will return to scene of accident early am on 3rd August after receiving telephone message from R. O'Mara Three Springs on condition of other accident victims."
