From The North Midland Times newspaper, Thursday 23 March 1950:
Clarrie McConkey Killed in Accident
"It was with deep regret that everyone learned of the fatal accident on Saturday last when Mr. Clarrie McConkey had the sad misfortune to run into the side of an empty bus on the corner of Bulwer and William Streets, Perth. Clarrie was riding a motorcycle and apparently did not see the bus coming. He was only 21 years of age, and was very popular with the young people of Carnamah, and will be greatly missed by them. The funeral took place in the Church of England portion of the Karrakatta Cemetery on Tuesday March 21 at 11:10 a.m. The chief mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. McConkey, son Neville, sister of the deceased, Mrs. Watson, and his fiance, Miss Betty Mason. Pall Bearers: Messrs. D. Bowman, D. Johnson, K. Waters, H. E. White, P. Rowland, I. Bebbington and Messrs. Mason Bros."
