From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 17 May 1935:
Obituary - Late Mr. E. Linthorne - The death of Mr. Eric Linthorne, station master, occurred suddenly at Arrino, on Thursday, May 9. Deceased, who was 44 years of age, has not enjoyed good health for about three years and complained of feeling unwell early in the day. During the evening he had a severe seizure and Dr. Mayrhofer was sent for, but the deceased passed away shortly before the Doctor arrived. Mr. And Mrs. H. Linthorne, of Midland Junction, parents of the deceased, who were passengers on Thursday morning's mail train to Dongara were informed of the sad news at Carnamah. They left the train at Arrino and took charge of the children, later taking them to Perth. The late Mr. Linthorne had been connected with the Midland Railway Company for over 24 years and had been stationed at Arrino for the past 10 years, where he took an active interest in the social and sporting activities of the town and was well respected and held in high esteem by all who knew him. He leaves a family of seven, four daughters, Mrs. Simmonds, Mavis, Lorna, Beryl, and three sons, Keith, Lionel and Rodney. The remains were conveyed to Perth, the funeral taking place on Saturday at Karrakatta Cemetery, when he was buried alongside his late wife, who died two years ago."
