She went to Sydney, during which time she received £2 a week from her husband, and after the baby was born she returned to Perth [39]
Her husband wanted nothing to do with their child or to make a home for his family and left them for good later in 1906 [39]
For a while she received 15/- a week to live off from her husband, and with help from her parents she established a boarding house [39]
With legal representation she petitioned for divorce on the grounds of desertion at the Supreme Court in Perth on 5 March 1913 [39]
Her petition for divorce was undefended and granted, and she was given legal custody of their daughter [39:6-Mar-1913]
