Prior to leaving England he was the farmer of Sneckyeat Farm in Hensington, Cumberland, England [20]

In addition to stock work he also did a variety of other jobs on Koobabbie [P363]
He milked cows, looked after fowls, killed a sheep once a week to feed everyone and doing the garden, including winter vegetables [P363]
Every three weeks he'd oil at least two Samson windmills on the farm, which he'd ride to on his bicycle [P363]
