He was advised by Constable MCNAMARA to take private action and have a summons issued against his attacker, which he did ^[88]
The matter went before the Police Court in Carnamah on 16 October 1937, however, the charge of assault was dropped ^[88]

Resided in Moora prior to enlisting in the Australian Army on 10 August 1940 ^[16]
