He appears to have commenced farming with the 160 acre Victoria Location 3004 and the 253 acre Victoria Location 3099 [44]
He gave a five shilling subscription towards the annual Three Springs Day event in 1913 [9: 3-Oct-1913]
By 1914 he'd forfeited Victoria Location 3004, which was mostly open sandplain located eight miles west of Arrino [81: 31-May-1914]
In about 1923-24 he extended his farm with land purchased from Arrino farmer W. Benjamin SWEETMAN [44]
His farm was then 819 acres in size and consisted of Victoria Locations 3054, 3055, 3099, 3268 and 3366 [44]
He had the registered horse and cattle firebrand Y7A while his brother Harry had YJ8, both for use on York Valley Farm [80: 28-Oct-1925]
Enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 22 October 1914 [30: item 4345924]
On enlistment was recorded as 5 feet 10½ inches tall, weighing 150 lbs. with blue eyes, light hair and a fair complexion [30]
After training was appointed in Claremont on 21 December 1914 to the A Squadron of the 10th Light Horse Regiment [30]
Embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia for active service abroad on the H.M.A.T. A46 Mashobra on 8 February 1915 [30]
Private 156 in the Australian Imperial Force's 10th Light Horse in Egypt during the First World War [30]
Wounded in Action on 19 April 1917 and was briefly evacuated to hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to his arm [30]
Returned to Australia on the Oxfordshire, disembarking on 4 August 1919 [30]
Discharged from the A.I.F. on 3 October 1919; received the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal [30]
After the war he returned to Arrino where he farmed until 1926 [19]
Donated 2/- to the Three Springs Saint Patrick's Day Committee in 1925 [124]
Sold his farm in Arrino to Hugh A. F. MCNEILL of Dalwallinu [P2] for £3,200 in about 1926 [225: 4-Aug-1926]
Arrino storekeeper Edward DAVEY took him to court claiming £100 as commission for the sale of the farm [225: 4-Aug-1926]
They disagreed over who introduced the buyer of the property but mutually agreed on him paying DAVEY £75 [39: 5-Aug-1926]
He shifted to Geraldton where he and his brother Harry grew tomatoes [P2]
His engagement to Constance MCGARRIGLE was announced in July 1926 and they married late in 1926 in Perth [66] [120: 8-Jul-1926]
Resided for many years at Bluff Point in Geraldton and later at 123 Fitzgerald Street, Geraldton [50]
Died 19 December 1959; buried at the Utakarra Cemetery in Geraldton, Western Australia (Catholic, Row 59, Plot 3) [29]
