Following his father's death in 1929 lived with his mother and siblings at a farmhouse near Arrino and then in the Arrino townsite [P2]
Along with his siblings Albert, Jack and Pearl he was baptised on 7 February 1932 by the North Midlands Methodist Missioner [84]

Resided in Arrino until enlisting in the Australian Army on 4 December 1940 [16]
Private WX9616 in the Australian Army's 2/28 Australian Infantry Battalion during the Second World War [16]
He had been a Prisoner of War, and was accidentally Killed in Action at sea in the Middle East on 17 August 1942 [16] [17] [18]
Memorialised on the Alamein Memorial at the El Alamein War Cemetery in Egypt[17]
