From The Irwin Index newspaper, Friday 15 March 1957:
Waddy Forest Lady's Death
"Under somewhat sudden circumstances, the death occurred at Coorow shortly after midnight on Sunday last of Mrs. Mora Chapman, wife of Mr. E. Chapman, of "Fernside," Waddy Forest. The deceased lady, who had always enjoyed normal health conditions, had occasion to seek medical advice at Three Springs last week, but returned to her home the same day. However, during the following day her condition necessitated further medical advice, as the result of which she was admitted to the North Midlands District Hospital. Within a period of less than twenty-four hours there was a marked deterioration in her condition, and on this account it was decided to transfer her to Perth by ambulance. The journey was commenced late on Sunday night last after arrangements had been made for Mr. Chapman to travel with his wife, but the ambulance had barely arrived at the appointed venue to meet her husband when she collapsed and passed away. The late Mrs. Chapman, who was only forty-five years of age, was born at Moora and had lived at Waddy Forest for the greater part of her life. She was keenly interested in several district organisations, one of which was the Country Women's Association. At the time of her death she held the position of secretary of the Latham Branch, of which she had previously been the treasurer for a period of nine years. She was also a member of the Coorow Sub-Branch of the Women's R.S.L. Auxiliary, and she was an associate of the Coorow Golf Club. Although not a player, she took an active interest in the activities of the Waddy Forest Tennis Club, and she was also a supports of the Coorow and Latham Football Clubs. In addition to a bereaved husband, she is survived by one son (Mr. Graham Chapman) and one daughter (Mrs. B. AcAlpine), who resides at Latham. The funeral of the deceased lady took place in the Anglican Cemetery at Winchester on Wednesday afternoon last and was attended by a particularly large number of residents of Latham, Waddy Forest, Coorow, Carnamah and other centres in the North Midlands, the service at the graveside being conducted by the Rector of the North Midlands (Rev. F. C. Armstrong). The chief mourners were Mr. E. Chapman (husband), Mrs. B. McAlpine (daughter), Mr. Graham Chapman (son), Mrs. B. Williams (mother), Mr. B. Williams (brother), Mr. and Mrs. F. Williams (brother and sister-in-law), and Masters Garry and Lance Chapman (nephews). The casket was borne from the hearse to the graveside by Messrs. L. Bothe, R. Patton, H. Greenwood, F. Ingle, E. Franklin and S. Simpson, and the pall-bearers were Messrs E. C. Hunter, J. L. Adams, G. Folland, A. M. McGilp, I. Mitchell, G. McAlpine, J. H. Doney and J. Griffith. The mortuary arrangements were conducted by Aidan Pindar Funeral Service of Geraldton."
From The Irwin Index newspaper, Friday 22 March 1957:
"Late Mrs. Mora Chapman. The funeral of the late Mrs. Mora Chapman, of "Fernside," Waddy Forest, who passed away under extremely sudden circumstances early last week, was responsible for one of the largest gatherings ever assembled in the Winchester Cemetery. There was also a huge profusion of floral tributes laid upon the grave."
