With Fred CROFT he was travelling to the Coorow townsite in a truck late Tuesday evening 21 May 1935 ^{[5: 24-May-1935]}
     Near their destination smoke began billowing from the truck's engine and it was remembered a bag was sitting over the engine ^[5]
     While driving along he attempted to remove the burning bag from the engine, however lost his balance and fell onto the road ^[5]
     He was knocked unconscious, received several head injuries and was taken to the Carnamah Private Hospital for treatment ^[5]
Sold 41 suckers at 17/1 per head and 18 suckers at 10/4 per head through Elder Smith & Co Ltd on 16 September 1936 ^{[5: 18-Sep-1936]}
Member of the Coorow Cricket Club in 1936-37 ^{[5: 16-Oct-1936]}
Later resided in the outer Perth suburb of Midland ^[2]
Died 27 October 1978; ashes buried Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth WA (Wesleyan, B, 3) ^[2]
