"Jack" John CARSTAIRS

Born 25 December 1900 in Ceres, Fife, Scotland ^[28]
Son of farmer Robert CARSTAIRS and Annie TAIT ^{[20] [28]}
Spent his early childhood at South Callange Farm in Ceres, Fife, Scotland, which was also where he was born at 4:30 a.m. ^{[20] [28]}
In 1921 he was working as a ploughman on Clatto Farm in Saint Andrews, Fife, Scotland ^[20]
Later lived on Balchrystie Farm in Kilconquhar, Fife, Scotland ^[203]
He and his brother James departed London, England on 3 January 1923 bound for Albany, Western Australia ^[203]
On 7 March 1924 purchased in partnership with his brother James 1,784 acres of land in Carnamah, Western Australia ^[27]
The land, which was virgin bush, was purchased from the Midland Railway Company for £1,452/18/6, payable over 15 years ^[27]
The 1,784 acres consisted of adjacent Lots M985, M986 and M990 of Victoria Location 2022 ^[27]

Sold their partially paid for farm in Carnamah to Ernest L. MITCHELL and Robert W. STRACHAN on 23 April 1926 ^[27]
Farmer in Perenjori from 1925 until at least 1965 ^[19]
He was made a Justice of the Peace for the Victoria Magisterial District in February 1933 ^{[86: 21-Feb-1933]}
With a plot of Gluclub wheat he won the Perenjori Agricultural Society's 50-acre Crop Competition in 1935 ^{[5: 20-Dec-1935]}
Married Margaret Irene PILINGTON in Perth in 1936 ^[19]
Patron of the Five Gums Tennis Club from 1937-38 to 1940-41 ^{[5: 27-Aug-1837] [89]}
In 1938 he was listed as one of the "progressive and successful farmers" in Perenjori ^{[120: 13-Oct-1938]}
Patron of the Perenjori Football Club in 1940 ^{[468: 5-Apr-1940]}
Later resided in the southern coastal Perth suburb of Rockingham ^[2]
Died 15 December 1981; buried at the Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth, Western Australia (Presbyterian, GA, 155) ^[2]
